Dr. Ravindra Dattaraya Kulkarni is a reputed and highly experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Pune, who has specialised in the niche field of Infertology. He studied at BJ Govt. Medical College in Pune, receiving a Gold Medal for his outstanding performance at the MD (Obstetrics & Gynaecology) exam in 1979. Adding a DGO to his qualifications, Dr. Kulkarni started his own small six-bed ObGyn hospital in Bhosari in 1983. The Kulkarni Hospital grew to 30 beds and gradually added on state-of-the-art equipment and facilities required for better management of all types of gynaecological and obstetric conditions.
With extensive experience under his belt, gained from exposure at different levels in his chosen field, Dr. Kulkarni decided to launch the specialised Yash IVF & ICSI Centre in 2002. This is an exclusive centre with the latest equipment to cater to the needs of the infertile couple. The clinic is well equipped and has a state-of-the-art IVF, ICSI and IUI laboratory with Co2 incubators, two laminar flows, an Olympus and Narischige Micromanipulator for doing ICSI, Olympus Stereozoom microscope and all facilities for vitrification (latest techniques for embryo freezing), which sets it apart from most other local options available. It also has an advanced sonography and Doppler machine with three probes. All procedures connected to infertility management including TESA, PESA, etc, are also on offer at this unit.
Apart from his clinical practice, Dr. Ravindra Kulkarni has always had a strong desire to contribute to medical education in India. At the start of his career he served for some time as a Lecturer at BJ Medical College and Sassoon General Hospital in Pune. Managing his new hospital then kept him away from teaching, but he revived this ambition in 1997 by re-joining BJ Medical College as an Honorary Associate Professor, a post he continues to hold to this day.
